Can crested geckos eat grapes?

Yes, the crested geckos can definitely eat grapes but the grapes cannot be fed on a regular basis only as a treat it should be given to the crested gecko. The grapes do not have high nutritive value so you should not feed them as a staple diet to the crested gecko.

The grapes are only fed occasionally to the crested gecko and also the grapes are not a popular fruit choice for the crested gecko. So you should feed the crested geckos with grapes but as a treat and that also sometimes in small quantities due to the low level of nutrition.

Grapes are good or bad for the crested gecko

The grapes have a poor Ca: P ratio (Calcium: Phosphorous ratio) which is not good for the crested gecko and it is 1: 2 which clearly indicates that calcium is in low quantity and that is not a good sign as calcium is very important for the crested gecko to grow and also to have good bones. This is the reason that crested gecko should not eat grapes on regular basis just occasionally they should be fed to them.

The oxalic acid content is low in the seedless grapes that clearly indicates that it is safe for the crested gecko but still should be fed as a treat and not as a staple diet.

As the food that is safe for the crested gecko should have a low level of oxalates and grapes have that. But the corded or the grapes that have seeds have high levels of oxalates that are not good for the crested geckos. So try and get the seedless grapes for the crested gecko so that they are safely eaten by the crested geckos because they can even get choked on the seeded grapes.

How to feed crested gecko with grapes?

The grapes should be fed as a treat and not on a regular basis as a staple diet. You should give small seedless grapes in a sliced form to your crested gecko or even you can mash them so that they can easily digest them and also that they do not choke on grapes.

Only one or two seedless grapes should be fed and not more than that should be fed as it can be harmful to them.

The grapes are just fed as a treat and you need to slice the grapes into small pieces for them. Never feed the crested gecko with seeded grapes as they have high levels of oxalic acid, poor level of Ca: P ratio and even the crested gecko can get choked on these seeded grapes. If you have seeded grapes so do remove the seeds before feeding them for the crested gecko as the seeds are not good for the crested gecko.

The nutritional value of grapes is not too good so it is a never preferred fruit for the crested gecko and also not a popular one but we can still feed it to the crested gecko as a treat once or twice a month that also in small quantities so that there is variety in the food that they are eating.

Conclusion:

The crested gecko is small pets that need lots of care and support from their owners so be careful what you feed them as they are sensitive to something they eat and if it is not healthy for them then they can fatal be for their life. So whenever you will feed the grapes to the crested gecko be careful and know everything about grapes before feeding them.

As we need to understand our crested gecko first and then take care of them accordingly. Also, the crested gecko can get ill very fast if the food fed to them is not appropriate and is not having any nutritional value. So feed grapes to the crested gecko but in limited quantity and only as a treat, not on regular basis.
