Do not force handling

Do not ever handle your crested gecko forcefully because in this process they will feel threatened and scared and will run away from you and also might bite you. So until unless your crested gecko do not know that you are harmless and will not recognise you they will run away and by forceful handling they will never be comfortable with you or will ever trust you. So handle them carefully and also only if they want otherwise leave them alone.

Feeding crested gecko

By feeding your crested gecko you will be able to gain the trust of your pet and they will be comfortable with your presence. Firstly when the crested gecko is new feed them with the help of tongs and do not interact with them much.

You can feed them with hands when they are comfortable with you and your presence. While the crested geckos are eating food you can make stay there and spend time with them so that they are able to recognise you by your presence. After they are comfortable with hand feeding, they will also be comfortable with you handling them. As they will know that you will not harm them and they will enjoy your company but still do not force handling on them and let them do what they want to.

Use sounds

In order to make the crested gecko recognise you, usually people use sounds that are repeated regularly so that they can understand they it is you and this will help them in recognising you and also will help them in building trust with you. But make sure you should not make loud sound as they will get scared so try to talk with them in pleasant voice so that they are not frightened from the sounds and is comfortable with it.

Hatchling

You should prefer a hatchling in order to pet as it is quite tough to build a bond with the adult crested gecko, as they are not so flexible. A hatchling can easily build a bond as they are living with you from the beginning and they will become comfortable with you without any constrain in mind.

Also they will be used to your presence and that will make easier for them to recognise you without any problem as they are living with you from a very young age. So crested gecko as a hatchling should be preferred when you want to build a good bond with them and also you want that they should feel your presence and also recognise you.

Proper setup

You should provide crested gecko with proper set ups inside the terrarium so that they lead a happy and a comfortable life. Also a healthy life should be provided to your crested gecko so that they are not frustrated and aggressive. This will help them to build a good bond with you and you will also understand them better and they will not attack you and will become friendly with you. Make sure to provide the right temperature as well.

The crested gecko need your full care and attention so that they are able to create a bond with you and are not scared with you. This type of attitude with your crested gecko will help them to recognise you and make them feel comfortable inn your presence.

Approach them properly

Try approaching your crested gecko properly and do not scare them. Go to them and slowly handle them rather than making some sudden movement this will scare them and they will treat you as some sort of threat for them. So try to be calm and composed before approaching them so that they build a trust on you and are able to recognise you while you are approaching your crested gecko.

Try to understand them and then in similar fashion try to approach them so that they are comfortable with you.

These are various ways in which you can build trust with your crested gecko and this will help them in recognising you and feeling your presence.

Summary

The crested gecko is a lovable pet and it will definitely recognise you if you will treat them properly and they love your presence and are comfortable with you. They will recognise you only if you have amazing bonding with them and they are not scared of you. You can just call out to them and they will definitely react to your voice as they will recognise you as soon as you come closer to them and will be happy to see you around.
