The crested gecko is known to have a friendly and docile nature. This means that they can stay with other animals but depends on many things whether they have a similar environment or not their eating habits and lots of many other things which tells whether 2 animals can stay together in the same tank without any issue.

Many factors govern the staying of 2 animals and that is how we can know the compatibility and also the living standards. Crested gecko can live nicely with some animals and with some they cannot because of various reasons. In this article, we will discuss whether a crested gecko can live with a poison dart frog or not.

There are many things that you need to understand about the crested gecko and to know with what animals they can stay and with what animals they cannot and depending upon that you can get the knowledge about what type of animals you can keep with your crested gecko.

Can crested gecko live with the poison dart frog?

The answer is no, the crested gecko cannot live with the poison dart frogs because of many reasons. They both are very different from each other and also their needs and requirements also vary from each other, so because of that, they cannot be kept with each other.

Also, another reason is that the poison dart frog can also get bitten or even killed in some cases by the crested gecko. So we should by no chance keep the two of them together because it can be quite stressful for both of them and also in some cases it can lead to the death of one of them or they both can die.

So understand both the crested gecko and also the poison dart frog and then take the proper and safe decisions for them. So it is clearly recommended that not to keep them together in the same tank because of different living conditions and also the varying needs.

Requirement to keep Crested Geckos With Poison Dart Frogs

There are many problems that can be faced by keeping the crested gecko and the poison dart frog in the same terrarium. So the problems that are face by keeping both of them together are as follows:-

  • Humidity is required for both of them but still, they cannot adjust together because the crested gecko is quite sensitive to humidity as they cannot tolerate quite high humidity. They need a humid terrarium but the requirements are different for both of them.
  • The temperature is also different for both of them as the humidity. Their night and the day temperature vary and that is why they cannot be kept in a similar tank as this will be quite dangerous for them as we will not be able to maintain a balance between the both. We also know that the crested gecko is quite sensitive to high temperatures so be careful while adjusting the temperatures.
  • The size of the poison dart frog is smaller than the crested gecko and the crested gecko tends to prey upon small size animals which means that they will try to bite the poison dart frog also. This is quite dangerous though the bite would not be so deep it will definitely injure the poison dart frog and even can cause infection to them. This can also lead to the death of the frog. So keeping the crested gecko and the poison dart frog together is a bad idea.
  • Staying with each other will create stress in both of them and which can make them enemies of each other. There are chances that they can hurt each other. This can cause the death of one of them or even both of them. As stress can lead to aggression, diseases, infections and lots of other negative things which will affect them and their health very badly.

These are some of the major problems that can occur if you keep the crested gecko and the poison dart frog together because they are not meant to be kept together and it can prove to be fatal for their life. Therefore it is strongly recommended and their living conditions are also quite different from each other.

Conclusion:

The crested gecko is a friendly pet but sometimes the difference in the living condition also leads to a change in the nature of a crested gecko. As in the case of the poison dart frog, both of them are poles apart and that is why it is strongly recommended not to keep them both together as it is not a healthy practice and you are also even risking the life of both of them.

So if you want to pet them both so it is better to keep both of them together and take proper care of them separately only then will live them happily and also stress-free.
