Also, it can try to touch it with its claw which can hurt the small kitten.
If you can keep the rabbit and the cat both in separate cages then it would be even better. Rabbits may or may not like the presence of the cat for the first time. In the cage, it would get the place to move and hide in the hideouts. You should give it adequate time to get adjusted to the presence of the new kitten and before that, it can stay away from the new pet.
When the rabbit and the kitten should be allowed to meet alone for the first time?
After a comfortable and safe time span of one year, you can leave the kitten and the rabbit alone for playing sessions. Before that, you need to be assured that these creatures are safe in each others’ presence and are not gnawing or clawing.
Also, there should be some safe place to hide nearby. If the cat or the rabbit gets hurt or is just afraid of the other’s presence, then there should be some option to move and hide for some time. You can keep their cages nearby with the lids or the doors open for this purpose.
