  1. The rabbits are often seen eating too much because they love eating and if something they like then the rabbits will definitely eat it because of this reason you will notice that the rabbits will definitely do overeating.
  2. Another reason is that the rabbits have a natural instinct that they have to eat a lot so that they can get ready for the food scarcity. They have this constant fear that the food will get over and they will remain hungry which is why they will overeat their food.
  3. The digestive system is designed in such a manner that they will keep on eating throughout the day and because of this reason, you will notice that they will have a constant urge to eat which is why they will overeat.
  4. The rabbits also get stressed too fast and due to the stress, the rabbits will start overeating because they will feel like eating in order to overcome their stress. This is a natural behavior of rabbits and that is why they do stress- eating which will lead to the fact that they will do overeating.
  5. The rabbits have a sweet tooth and if you will give them something sugary to eat or their favorite treat they will definitely eat it a lot and because of this, they will do overeating.

One of the common reasons that tell us why should rabbit not overeat is when the rabbits overeat they start gaining weight which leads to the fact they start getting obese and because of this fact the rabbits will face lots of other problems and also they will become too lazy and will not perform lots of activities because of obesity.

2. Dental problems

The rabbits also face a dental problem when they overeat a lot and that too not hay but the pellets or other tasty treats that they love this result in the fact that the rabbit’s teeth overgrow which will lead to the fact that they will face lots of dental problems due to this reason.

3. GI Stasis

GI Stasis is a serious health problem that leads to the fact that the digestive system of the rabbit slows down they are not able to perform lots of activities and because of this reason your rabbit will not be able to eat food after some time and due to overeating they face this kind of problem so make sure that your rabbit is not facing this problem and you can overcome this. GI Stasis occurs when the rabbit consumes lots of pellets and sugary stuff.

4. Lethargic behavior

The rabbits become quite lazy and lethargic and due to this reason, you will notice that they will face lots of issues and will not be active and their laziness will take a toll on to their health. A lethargic rabbit will get prone to lots of diseases and also because of these reasons your rabbit will feel tired and sick.

1. Provide a balanced diet

You need to provide the rabbit with a balanced diet so that they do not get any kind of nutrient deficiency and also because if you provide them with a balanced diet the rabbits will not have much of an urge of overeating. They will stay healthy and will enjoy their meal and in this way, they will not overeat.

2. Limited treats

You need to feed the rabbits treats in limited amounts because anything the rabbit would love to eat they will definitely overeat it and so you should limit the treat consumption also you need to make sure that the rabbits should not overeat these treats and you should provide them with treats as a part of a reward, not their daily diet.

3. Keep them busy

You need to keep your rabbit busy throughout the day because if the rabbits get bored then also they will do overeating in order to keep themselves busy and entertained and overeating is one such thing that they will do if they are bored. So it is the duty of the owners that they should keep the rabbits busy so that they do not overeat as they will not have time to think about it.

Do not provide them with an unlimited food supply because this will eventually lead to the fact that the rabbit will overeat and because of this reason the rabbits will face issues and they will keep on eating till the food will get over because they have this constant urge of eating food and do not like to stop in between.

As an owner, you need to understand the eating behavior of your rabbit so that you can provide them with a healthy lifestyle.
