1. Infections

If the rabbit is suffering from some kind of infection, then your rabbit will feel weak and will not be able to stand up. Also in worst cases due to infection, the rabbit can even get paralyzed and due to this, the rabbits are not able to stand up. The most common infection that can cause such issues to the rabbit is known as Encephalitozoon cuniculi.

2. Degenerative disease

The other reasons why the rabbits are not able to stand up are the degenerative diseases and these diseases are cancer and also spinal osteoarthritis which will not let your rabbit stand up on their legs. The degenerative disease sometimes can be fatal for the rabbits as it causes lots of other issues to them. They lose their ability to stand up and also cause lots of other complications for the rabbit.

3. Toxicity

The toxicity is also a reason which will lead to the fact that the rabbits are not able to stand up because some toxins have entered their body which will not let your rabbit stand up. In rabbits, the toxins can enter their body from a natural source or even from a man-made source.

So toxicity is very dangerous for the rabbits and in worst cases, it can prove fatal for the rabbits. As we know that the rabbits are not able to vomit and in such a case the toxins entering their body stay there and affect their body in various ways with time they also lose their ability to stand up.

4. Gone through trauma

If the rabbits have gone through some kind of trauma the rabbit will feel weakness in their spine and they will not be able to stand up on their own. Their body will start shaking up when they will try to stand up. Even in some cases the rabbits also can get paralyzed which makes it even tougher for them to stand up.

The trauma could be both mental and physical and this can affect them in lots of ways not standing up is one such way. The trauma is mainly caused in rabbits due to some fear that is still haunting them.

5. Age

When the rabbit starts getting old it will face lots of age-related issues and not standing up is one of them so you need to make sure that when the rabbit is old enough it will not be able to stand up and this problem can also be seen in humans too. So this is also an age-related issue for the rabbit.

These are some of the reasons why the rabbits are not able to stand up and the most common reason is that they are facing some kind of syndrome or health issue that is restricting their movement. As an owner, you should be aware of all these things so that you can help your rabbit and also understand them in a better way.

When you do not know what to do, the best thing is to take them to the vet because they know how to take care of such situations so that your rabbit is provided with proper medical treatment.

If the vets are able to cure the problem then it is fine, but if not then they will at least stop it from going even worst. The rabbits should enjoy a healthy life which is why the owners should take note and also observe carefully if that is something wrong with their rabbits or not so that things can be detected at an early stage and also they not face any kind of problems any further.

But if the rabbits still face such issues you need to make sure that you support them and do not leave them alone. As rabbits need their owners most at this time so that they can spend time with them and also even the owners should understand them in such a situation.
