If you are the owner of a baby chameleon then you need to follow the steps that are given below as you have to be towards the needs of the baby chameleons and to raise a baby chameleon you need to take care about many aspects so that the baby chameleons live a happy and a healthy life without any fear of their surroundings. The steps on how to care of a baby chameleon are given as below:-

Habitat

The first thing you need to worry is about the habitat of the baby chameleon and you need to be very particular about their habitat and make sure you provide them with the prefect habitat that has high humidity, small space and appropriate temperature and light. Also make sure to provide a quality and best substrate.

Temperature

The temperature inside the habitat for the baby chameleon should be perfect so that they can survive and the temperature requirement for the baby chameleon is same as the adult chameleon and that is 72 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Even if there is any need of installing any extra heating lamps, do that as the appropriate temperature is very important for the baby chameleon for the surviving purpose.

Space

The baby chameleons are small in size and also move slowly so they do not need much space to live or to stay as compared to adult chameleons, so get an appropriate for these baby chameleons and they do not need much large spaces.

Humidity

The baby chameleons need to have high humidity in order to survive, otherwise they will start getting sick and also there will be a chance of respiratory infection to develop which can be very deadly for them so they need high humidity. For this you need to do regular misting inside the tank or bring the humidifiers to maintain the high humidity levels in their enclosures.

Also keep more and more water inside the tank of the baby chameleons and also do lots of spraying inside the tank. Lighting

The baby chameleons need appropriate lightings in their enclosures like the adults do. They need a consistent UVB source for the survival and you can get the best UVB lights for that purpose. The UVB helps them to provide them with Vitamin D3 which further leads to absorption of calcium that is quite essential for their body and it prevents them from metabolic bone disease and that is why UVB lighting is important for the baby chameleons.

So you need to install the UVB bulbs in their enclosure and keep these lights on for at least 12 hours per day and after that turn these lights off. Do not forget to turn these light off as it is important to simulate the day-night cycle and also their bodies need rest.

Diet

The baby chameleons requires insects but you need to make sure that the insect should not be larger than the baby chameleon and the best option for them is the pinhead crickets and the hydei fruit flies.

The baby chameleons should be fed at least twice in a day and also the calcium dusting should be supplemented in their diet. Feed them with lots of insects at the same time and they will stop eating whenever they will be full.

The baby chameleons also needs various things or decorative plants inside their enclosure to climb or to hide like the adult chameleons. Though they will not create any problem or they will not attack the baby chameleon but once they will be 3 months old it is better to remove them from the same enclosure to the new one for their safety.
