1. Greens and vegetables
The main food that you can feed tortoise with is vegetarian food which mainly includes greens and vegetables. You should be aware that the tortoise is herbivores in nature which mean that they usually eat plant-based food. The greens and vegetables are the main source of food for the tortoises and it includes a large variety of food.
The tortoise gets most of its minerals and nutrients from the greens and vegetables and that is why the tortoise is fed with the greens and the vegetables as it is a healthy and the most preferred diet for them.

You can also notice that tortoises will be healthy if you feed them with a protein-rich diet. But it is not important that you need to feed them a protein-rich diet because if you want them to be on a fully vegetarian diet you can let them be on it.
