The various signs of dominant behavior in your rabbit are listed as below:-

1. Demanding grooming

The dominant rabbit will demand grooming from the submissive rabbit almost every time they will feel like grooming and in this manner, you will notice that when the rabbit is dominating they will do something like this. A rabbit that is dominating will do this and the other rabbit will start grooming them without any hesitation for such a thing to notice you need to be quite observant of your rabbit and do not ignore such signs as this is just a beginning and will not cause many issues in your rabbit.

2. Mounting on other rabbits

The dominant rabbit will often be seen mounting on the other rabbit and this is not always a sign of sexual activity but it also tells that the rabbit is showing their dominance to other rabbits by mounting on them.

Sometimes the rabbits are fine with the mounting of the dominant rabbit and nothing will happen inside the captivity but sometimes they are not fine with such a behavior and the other rabbit will become aggressive and this can often lead to violence inside the captivity when such behavior is not welcomed.

3. Chasing one another

The rabbits are often seen chasing one another and the reason that they want to dominate each other and also want to gain supremacy this is a very common behavior that you will notice in a dominant rabbit also whenever you will observe chasing always do not be the sign of dominancy sometimes they are just chasing because they are playing along with each other. But if you will notice the chase carefully then you will be able to find the difference between normal chasing and the otherwise chasing for dominance.

4. Biting

When the rabbits are biting not only their rabbit mates but also their owners or other humans then also it tells us that the rabbit is having the dominant behavior because they want to show that they do not want any kind of interference or do not want to share their stuff and enclosure.

Also, they do not like that human should hold them which is why they start biting them too. This biting thing is very common especially when they start biting without any kind of obvious reasons because in this way they will feel that they are supreme and they will not share their stuff.

5. Circling another rabbit

When the rabbit starts circling the other rabbit this clearly means that they are marking their territory and also it means that the other rabbit will not have their own free will everything will be controlled by the dominant rabbit and this can cause a negative impact on the health of the other rabbit and they will not be at happy and they will get stressed most of the time.

Even the rabbits circle when they want to do mating but that is not always the case. So circling is one of the signs that tell us about the dominant behavior of the rabbit.

6. Aggression

When the rabbits start getting aggressive on small things then also you will notice that they are getting dominant not only on the fellow rabbits but also upon their owners and this behavior should not be supported because it can prove dangerous also. As aggressive behavior is something that will not harm only others but will also harm the rabbit itself.

The rabbit behavior will get aggressive especially when they will not get what they are accepting and because of this reason they will get heated up and will do things that is not at accepted and aggression can lead to various dangerous forms that can be harmful for everyone.

7. Hoarding food

The rabbits also start hoarding the food and that rabbit is the dominant rabbit they will not let the other rabbit eat much food and take will make the most of it and which is why you need to make sure that such things should not happen. As this kind of behavior will also harm the dominant rabbit as they will not be able to eat all the food and it will get worse with time and they will get sick.

On the other hand, the other rabbit that is submissive will not be able to eat the food properly as the food will be very less for them and they will get stressed and also will remain hungry and because of this, it will take a toll on their health. So if the rabbit starts hoarding food it clearly means that this is a sign of dominant behavior in them.

8. Barbering

When the rabbit will start barbering the other rabbit instead of grooming them then it is known as barbering and this will not be a very common sight but when you will notice this it indicates the dominant behavior of the rabbit and they will face lots of consequences due to this fact.

Because barbering a rabbit is something that is a very violent and aggressive act and it can hurt the rabbits a lot because the hair of the rabbit is plucked from their body which is definitely a painful thing. This can further lead to a fight between two rabbits and that should not be supportive and the owners should take note of this.

These are some of the signs that tell us about the dominant behavior of a rabbit and as an owner you should know all these signs so that you can control this behavior as there are lots of negative impacts of such behavior on other rabbits and also they become too aggressive towards their owners too.

You need to train your rabbit properly and if needed take them to the vet as they can help in such situations also a dominating rabbit is not a good rabbit for its owner because there are times when they can go out of control and you cannot do anything to stop them. So make sure that you are able to control this behavior of your rabbit so that they do not go out of control and they obey you.

Also, the rabbit should be controlled with such behaviors because they can even hurt the other rabbits in their enclosure and sometimes this can prove fatal to them that are not at all good for any one of the submissive rabbits.

Final thoughts:

The rabbit can become a very good pet and even a very bad pet depending on how they are being raised up. If the owners train them in a proper way and also pamper them only what much is needed then the rabbits can become the best friends with humans but if they are spoiled or the owners do not take proper care of them then you will notice that rabbit will not be able to bond with their owners and will also cause lots of problems to them.

So a rabbit and an owner should have a strong relationship with one another that can help both of them to live peacefully with each other and also will help them to understand one another in a better way. Also, your rabbit will love their owners and even obey them if the owner will take proper care of them and will also love them and provide them with the best of everything that is needed for them.
