You can carry the small leopard gecko in a sleeping bag but it should not be so heavy that it flips from the place and the gecko inside gets hurt.

Plastic tubs are a safe and easy way to carry the leopard gecko by car to the vets. The tub should be made of safe material and it should have a good scope of ventilation.

How to travel with gecko?

If you are driving a car to the vet then you can keep the gecko in some container or you can put leashes on it. The gecko should feel free to move, but also make sure that it does not make any obstacle while you will be driving.

How to keep the gecko comfortable in the car?

If the outside temperature is low and you need to take your pet to the vet, you need to switch on the heating of the car a few minutes prior to the journey. Let the interior of the car warm up and later you can place the container or bag carrying the leopard gecko in the car.

You must arrange for some kind of bedding by placing paper towels, newspapers or the bedding equipment that you use for the leopard gecko.  This is necessary to keep the car clean from the waste of the gecko if it does defecate during the journey. If the journey is short, then also you should not miss this step.

A hot water bottle or a latex made glove filled with hot water is a nice addition to the travel container of the gecko, though you must take care that the bottle or glove does not become too hot so the gecko gets burnt. There are hand-warmer packets available but if you use them, keep them outside the container so that does not burn the gecko. Also, you can wrap the hand-warmer or the hot water bottle with a towel to avoid any kind of mishaps.
