Why Does My Alaskan Malamute Jump On Me?

There are some pet owners who train their Alaskan malamute to stop jumping on them at an early age. This is because these dogs can get very excited and jump on you anytime. This might be cute but when the dog grows up it can easily knock down a person.

Jumping on people instinctively

We see that the dog might jump on people because it is his instinct and this is in his behavior. Mostly these dogs lick their mother’s mouth and they also jump on them. This is in their behaviour naturally. There is a distinctive greeted in the world of dogs and it is your duty that you should train them not to jump on others.

How to stop the dog to jump on others?

This is his instinct to jump on others but you don’t need to worry on that.  Because you can still teach your dog how to stop this behaviour and train them to act in a certain way. If your dog jumps on you then you are the reason because you have given those pats, happy talks, and attention.

If you do this on s daily basis then this behaviour will be developed and then it will grow with this jumping and get you frustrated. Your dog will jump on you and if you do not show him the desired reaction for the greeting then he will get disappointed. And you won’t want that so to stop this you can go through the following.

Training early

It is suggested that you start training your dog at an early age. This is because your dog jumping on you is no exception. Dogs are susceptible to this behaviour and if you want to bring changes in it then you need to train them. You can avoid looking at him or praising him.

Ignoring can also be helpful and when he doesn’t jump on you can give them rewards.  Do not yell at your dog r push him away because f you do so then it is also understood as an act of attention by him and he will continue to jump on you because you gave him the sort of attention that it needed.

Moreover, mostly when the Alaskan jumps on you it might be when you are taking a bowl of food to him. This is also seen that your pup might wait for you for food, and when you will take it to them they are definitely going to jump on you. Now, when you take him foods do not give them the attention and they will slowly stop jumping on you.

Why the Alaskan malamute jump at people’s faces?

It might appear to you that your dog wants to bite your face when it jumps on your face. This is not the sign of aggression though. If he growls then this behaviour is not the same as usual one and is considered different. Moreover, we see that jumping on someone’s face is there extinct and they greet them in this way.

Also one dog greets other dog by sniffing or licking. Also he can try this behaviour to reach out on you but you need to change it.

Conclusion

The most important thing that you need to keep in mind is that the Alaskan malamute will jump on you when it is seeking your attention. Also, if you show him expressions of finding him adorable it will jump on you every time he sees you. If you will ignore him then he will jump on you. Also, he might feel disappointed on you not accepting the greeting.

Moreover, it is your duty to encourage your pet to stay on his four legs and when you feel like cuddling your dog, do it by sitting on his level. Dogs are different then we but you can surely train them to not do a particular thing. You just need to find the right way for this.
