You can easily examine if your bearded dragon gets too cold for a long time as they would look so active like normal days.

Being too cold for a long time will affect the digestive system of your bearded dragon and this may be caused for other problems too.

Low temperature also caused your bearded dragons to be sleepy always. Generally, 24 hours without proper heat will affect them.

This is a real problem and, Now we will discuss solutions for the same.

What if Bearded Dragon Gets Too Cold

Know the Proper Temperature for your Bearded Dragon

As you already know how it is important to provide proper temperature to your bearded dragon now, you should know about the temperature they need.

  • For a baby beardy (0 to 5 months) they need 95° Fahrenheit to 110° Fahrenheit (35℃ – 43℃) in the basking area and, 80° Fahrenheit to 90° Fahrenheit ( 27℃-32℃) in the cooler section.
  • Young dragons for 6-18 months old need 95° Fahrenheit to 100° Fahrenheit (35℃-38℃) in the basking area and, 80° Fahrenheit to 90° Fahrenheit ( 27℃-32℃) in the cooler section.
  • For Adult bearded dragon the temperature 90° Fahrenheit to 95° Fahrenheit in the basking area (32℃-34℃) and, in the cooler section, they need 27℃-32℃.

Why Your Bearded Dragon Needs so much Heat?

Simply because they are that kind of reptile whose nature is heat. They can’t produce heat from the body they are cold-blooded so they need heat from the environment.

Heat is so essential for them from breathing to digestion they can’t live even 24 hours without heat. Their body starts dysfunctioning without proper heat.

We have discussed the temperature that bearded dragons need at different ages. But you can set their shelter temperature for an ideal one which is around 32℃.

Night Temperature – It is recommended to switch off the temperature light at the night.

It will maintain the natural environment around the bearded dragon because at the night they also like coolness.

But make sure the night temperature wouldn’t reach 18 to 21℃. Whenever you feel that it is getting down you can switch on the heating lamp.

When you are on a trip!

You can’t switch on the light lamp when you are out. You can switch off for 24 hours because your bearded dragon can handle that time.

But for the time you can cover the tank with a cloth or something that could generate heat and, make sure the temperature of the room would remain neutral.

Your bearded dragon can live without the UV light for 1-2 days but after that, it will start malnourished without vitamin D.

Bearded dragons like sunlight and in the room UV rays make it fill. Also, make sure that the glass of the tank where not restrict them from getting the rays of UV light.
