This dog is known as the King of Terriers breed. The Airedale is however the largest of all the terriers. The dog breed is originated from the Aire valley and it was created so that the otters could be caught. This dog is ideal and proved very helpful in the times of World War I.

Moreover, these dogs are pubered dogs and you might see them in the rescue shelters. You need to adopt one of these if you want to bring them home.

If you are thinking of owning dogs and especially the Airedale Terrier then you need to know that this dog is an old hat for the people. Experts mention that the dogs originated 12000 years ago and have evolved from the wolves.

How To Care For Airedale-Terrier

Since then the humans have focused on bred these dogs selectively and have created 400 breeds that range in size from 4 pounds to three-foot stature. This dog is regarded as the tallest dog.

The preferred dogs of this breed are nonpedigree dogs and are one of a kind. This breed of dog is also a favorite pick among dog owners. The owners are mostly unaware of the tips that they need to follow to take care of their pets. So here are some tips that you should follow, so that your pet stays healthy.

Contents

Taking care of the Airdale Terrier:

The annual cost of keeping this breed of dog includes food s well treats for it, the vet bills, toys, license, and this can range from $420-780 dollars.

For this, the capital costs are not included and it does not include the collar and leash as well as the dog carrier and crate.

Feeding:

Excellent quality of dry food will help your pet achieve a balanced diet and this is required for full-grown animals. You can mix the dry food with the canned food and with water as well. Your pet might even be fond of the cooked eggs and fruits and even find vegetables as interesting food.

  • These puppies need about 4 bowls of food every twenty-four hours and this is for those who are between the age group of 8-12 weeks.
  • The puppies that are 6 months old require 3 meals in a day.
  • The puppies which are 6months to 1-year-old need to be fed 2 meals a day.
  • By the time, your pet reaches the first birthday, you need to feed one bowl daily and it is all that is required.
  • The adult ones might even eat two helpings. It is your duty that you help your pet to maintain the schedule.

Try feeding it cheese and make sure that these foods are about 10% of the daily nutrition that is to be provided. These puppies should be given high-quality food and brand food. Do cut down the table food, this is because it can lead to vitamin and mineral imbalance. It might even lead to eating problems and obesity.

Give your pet fresh and clean food along with water. Do make sure to provide clean food and also wash the dishes properly. Here are some of the Best Dog Foods For Airedale Terrier

Grooming:

You need to groom your pet so that it stays healthy. The dog is having hard and a wiry coat and this provides the terrier a protective barrier. This will help the dog to do the job that it was bred for.

If you do regular stripping then the quality of the fur and the texture strengthens. The furry coat helps in providing the utilitarian purpose of the dog.

It does not matter if you hand strip your pet’s coat or get it done in the trim welding, or the clippers and scissors, the main aim is to groom. Do not let them reach the state of scraggly disarray. If you hand strip your pet then do it before the furnishing and make it bath after that. When you hand strip the undercoat will automatically reach the desired results.

If you are artificially clipping the coat, use the brush and the comb to remove the dead coat and then stimulate the surface so as to encourage the new growth. Use a towel to do the frequent brushing and rubbing. This will remove the dirt and the oils.

When the time to get the Airedale full bath is there, wash the jacket in the direction of the hair growth and also rinse in the same direction.

Use the towel and pin it around the jacket so that it lays flat and helps to dry the coat. We know that the jacket does not need regular washing but still, routine maintenance would require it to be washed.

You can do weekly brushing as well for 20-30 minutes and use the towel to rub down. You can bathe the leg and facial furnishings monthly.

General Health:

You need to do prep work so that your pet gets the perfect grooming.  Prep work will include ear cleaning, nail trimming, and dental hygiene.

If you master these skills then you can keep your pet stylish and hygienic. This is to be done before every grooming session. Also, you need to get the ears of your dog checked as well as cleaned. You might even require getting the hair pulled out.  If you get the hair pulled out then it will allow proper air circulation and will also help in preventing bacteria.

Moreover, train yourself properly so that you do this stuff perfectly. Also, maintain the proper nail care. Longer nails can be a cause of health issues and will make it difficult to trim them later. If you trim the pads, then this will help the foot to get proper traction and will also help in minimizing the dirt.

You can prevent the condition of cracks and abrasions. Good dental hygiene is also required.

Conclusion:

It is important that you take care of your pet and its needs, only then it will remain healthy. Go through the tips and follow them.
