For couple of weeks it will still be alive but after sometime the diseases will start infecting the iguana and it will die quite soon if the heat is not provided to the iguana as heat plays a very important part in the life of an iguana.
Importance of heat for an iguana
As we know iguanas are cold blooded animals this makes the heat very important element in the life of an iguana. The ideal temperature of the iguana is 84 to 90 degree Fahrenheit during the day time and 70 to 77 degree Fahrenheit at night.
Digesting food
The heat helps the iguana to digest the food and if the proper digestion does not take place than the iguana will most likely fall ill. To check the proper temperature in the cage one should add a thermometer inside the cage.
Immune system
The heat also provides the iguana with stronger immune system as it helps in absorbing the nutrients from the food which will strengthen the immune system of the iguana.
Free of diseases
The iguana will not get diseases as it will be able to digest the food properly due to heat and also the immune system will be strengthened. This will help the iguana to stay fit and due to the heat presence the iguana will not become weak, sick or even lethargic in that case. As heat also makes the iguana active.
Bottom line
The iguana cannot live for a longer time without heat. It will be very tough for an iguana to even survive for a month without heat. As iguanas are tropical animals they need heat to survive and that is why heat plays a very important role in the life of an iguana.
So the owners should provide them with natural heat if possible as that is the best way to provide the iguanas with heat and if you live in colder regions then you can provide them with artificial heating such as heat lamps, etc. As this will help in providing heat to the iguana and will help them to live a healthy life.
