Keeping reptiles as a pet is newer in fashion as the common practice was keeping quadruple mammals to keep as pets. Dogs and cats are most favored pets, but now people are changing their choice regarding pets.

There are people who love to keep bearded dragon as pets for the reason, that it takes much less space while you are living in a small apartment.

Keeping pets make us happy and satisfied. They distress us after a long tiring day and also offer us emotion support. The attachment that we get from them is unconditional and thus we feel cared and loved by our pets.

Bearded dragons are not conventional pets and there are some differences in behavioral aspects which are unique in case of bearded dragons. We would like to discuss about its attachment and response of bearded dragon to its owners.

The common belief regarding bearded dragons is, they are unsocial creatures. This might be true to some extent when you compare them with dogs. But with time they get close to their owners. In matter of temperament, they are quite even. They can support you when you need to hold it or want its company.

You can take them for walk when it will behave much calmly until something unusual happens like attack of some other beards.

You can leash them with good leash or carry them on your body.  Taking on the shoulder or on your arms makes it close to you. Even children can carry them on their body, though there should be adults to supervise them.

How Bearded Dragons shows attachment to the Owners?

They show their attachment in different ways. If you see your bearded dragon keeping the eyes close when they are facing you or getting near you, you should understand that it is feeling safe near you. Bearded dragons do not show trust to any random people.

By natural instinct bearded dragons keep their eyes wide open when they are in wild and facing some predator. This is actually a general habit among almost all the reptiles. Thus keeping the eyes close shows their trust upon you.

Do Bearded dragons recognize you?

Bearded dragons take time to get close to the owner and recognize him or her. You can sometime let it roam in the room while you will be present but not interacting with it. Of course you need to make sure that there is no obstruction of chance of danger for the dragon inside the room.

When left free, if you see the dragon coming near you or sitting against your body.  Now you can be sure that it trusts you.

Licking is not a general habit among bearded dragons. It can be mistaken by the owners who have previously kept dog or cats as their pets.

The mammal pets show their affection by licking. When you see your bearded dragon licking you, then you can make out that it is trying to identify your smell and possibly liking it.

If you see some signs when you approach your bearded dragon, you can think that it is feeling stressed. Signs like running from you or arm waving are sure signs of feeling stressed. Keeping the mouth gaping or hissing also symbolizes they are feeling threatened. Even if it staying still and not moving even slightly when you are near it, then also it means that it is not is good mood.

How to make the dragon recognize you?

If you wish to be close to it after bringing it to your home, do some activities with it. The time you spend with it will bring you two closer. You can feed it by hand and also give it bath. Pick up a cool name for your bearded dragon and call them by name.

These gestures make the dragon feel your touch and slowly it starts reciprocating the love and attachment.

Also taking the dragon out once in every alternate day is a great way of bonding. You can also get some toys for your bearded dragon.

But make sure that the weather outside is comfortable, as it will not like to roam if there is cold wind blowing outside. In that case you can take a tour of your apartment holding the dragon on your arms or shoulder.

Bearded dragons have different emotions like any regular pets. They feel afraid, sad, happy or stressed. But the different between bearded dragon and other pets are, they express it in a very different way.

So when you are adopting a new pet, trust yourself to understand its body language. With love and attention you will surely feel the affection it is showing to you.
